Amputee Links........

A subject close to my heart as I have had a below-knee amputation of my right leg.

This multi-award winning WEB Site is designed primarily to help out amputees on a peer to peer basis. However, friends and families of amputees, doctors, prosthetists, teachers, PE instructors, physical therapists or anyone wanting to know more about amputation, will benefit from using this site.

Great site for advice - links - chat etc.

Readers experiences. Don't be shy, tell others how you cope with your amputation.

What we do

We provide free and confidential support within the Oldham area for people for whom an amputation may be necessary or who already are amputees, this also extends to their families and partners.

Support?

Based on first hand experience we can provide advice, practical help and counselling when it is needed and where it is needed. Much of our support is given in hospital prior to the operation and just after.

We can also provide help sorting your benefit entitlements and mobility issues.

Thompson's Shower Protector is

an open-bottom, wrap-around,

vinyl water shield that is designed

to keep your prosthesis dry in the

shower. Secured above the knee

or the thigh, (BK or AK), just above

the prosthesis, it is held snug by

wide Velcro straps which are firmly

sewn onto the top.

The company is based in the US but

I have spoken to it's owner, Jim,

who tells me they sell to the UK.

The Limb Loss Legal Panel is a group comprising some of the country's leading law firms who have a national reputation specialising in personal injury and clinical negligence. Most importantly panel members have great experience working on behalf of amputees.
