I can find little about this chair.
I have however a great reveiw by edj of youreable -
For those of us who want to go virtually anywhere, (within reason I supose) try the Four X it has been a great help to getting back to what I used to do.
I wanted to get out mushrooming, rock pooling and in general out and about forests etc like I did before I had to resort to a wheelchair.
After looking at many systems and I must say my OT's reluctance to allow me to achieve my maximum freedom I found the Four X by chance.
OT's seem to want people to only go on level ground and not be adventurous, but that's another subject.
I wish I had the same performance from my PT as Alison T and others say they do, I really miss getting out with my family on bike rides
Any how I found out about the Four X had a trial and fell in love with it, it is an all terrain wheelchair which has four independent wheels, so if three are stuck the fourth can get you out of trouble so I can go virtually anywhere.
The seat can be adjusted to give best position for going up and down slopes, the brochure says it can climb up slopes of 20 or more. I have went up very steep hills around the Mourne Mountains.
Yes I have been able to go over some of the Mournes something I thought I would never do again. The seat adjustment allowed me to do this, to go up hill the seat is moved forward and all the weight is put on the front wheels, going down hill the seat is moved back depending on the incline. This gets a bit off getting used to as it makes the slope look more severe than it is.
The seat is a recaro and very comfortable with good armrest, the only thing I have a gripe with is the joystick, but I can truly live with it.
The Four X may not be suitable for everyone but when you get used to it is easier to use than most other powerchairs.
I can go through Tollymore forest, over rocky/sandy beaches and get over most obstacles that are simply too much for other systems.
The speed according to spec is a max 6 KM/H, I got 51/2 mph and around 15 miles.
I can actually get mine indoors which shows how manoeuvrable it is when you get used to it, it really has opened up the world to me, which has made me ticked off with my OT as her advice would have deprived me of the freedom it gives.
The price is around £16000 I know it is expensive, but I really can go where I want.
