Jazzy Quantum Vibe
I would really like to thank Julianne for offering this review -
This chair features comfortable, adjustable, reclining captain's
seat and padded arm rests. The swing-away joystick is practical for
use at tables or workspaces. A pouch in the rear has the capacity to
carry several lightweight items. The tires and front casters are
very durable, and ideal for heavy outdoor use. Its top speed is 6
miles per hour, which makes it enjoyable and practical for traveling
outside. The risk of tippage is very low.
It includes a waist belt. I do not need it for a positioning device,
and it is not a safety measure in the event of an accident. The
joystick control panel is attractive and easy to use. I personally
dislike the idea of having a horn on my chair, but if you like them
and/or find one useful, this Jazzy has one. The chair makes a
beeping sound when the power button is depressed. I dislike this
feature, as it calls undue attention to the chair and to me. The
sound is similar enough to that of a beeping horn that others
frequently think I'm tooting at them. I assume this feature could be
deactivated if you consult your service provider.
It has an off board battery, which is of course inconvenient for
travel, but the chair will hold a charge for about two days of heavy
use.
I stress that the Quantum Vibe is unquestionably an outdoor chair. I
find it difficult to maneuver inside. This particular model cannot
be fitted with a footboard. The leg rests present a significant
obstacle indoors, and the turning radius is wide.
Having had a footboard with my last chair (which was also a Jazzy),
I HIGHLY recommend getting a make of ANY chair compatible with a
board rather than leg rests. The leg rests on this Quantum bend VERY
easily, and they are cause for repeated repair calls.
This chair performs very poorly in winter weather. Do not rely upon
it if you must be able to move about through even a small amount of
snow and/or ice on a regular basis!
The ride is smooth, and generally silent. The wheels occasionally
stall, hesitate, or spin on rough terrain, but for the most part, it
handles well in dry weather.
My feeling about this chair is ambivalence. I tend to be VERY
pleased with the features I like, but VERY unhappy with what is not
working well for me.
I know a power chair is a substantial investment and a critical
factor in one's level of functioning and life satisfaction. I hope
my comments help you make the right decisions for you.
