When I first used the train after becoming disabled the train stopped at the station, I waited at the door to get off, no-one came with a ramp and then the train pulled off again - aaaarrrgggghhhhh!!!
Whatever comes into my head goes on this page....
I only have one and a half legs now.
If you had said to me a few years back that I would be an amputee, be stuck in a wheelchair and would not be able to walk anymore I would have freaked big time.
Well, now it doesn't bother me. Life goes on and I am the way I am. I can't change things unless they invent a miracle cream that makes legs grow back (if you know of such a cream definateley email me!)
Isn't it funny how you learn to accept and adapt! Whatever life throws at me now, I will overcome it.
I think one of the main reasons for my happiness is the love of my friends and family - without them things would be pretty crap! I have the most wonderful partner and without her I would be stumped (I might have to even learn to iron myself) - thanks, Karen!!
So, what I am trying to say is IT DOES GET BETTER!
Hospitals should not charge disabled people for car parking !!!!
NEVER !!!!
So, tell me, why do supermarkets not bother clamping people who park in disabled parking spots when they are not disabled???
Makes me mad as hell!!
When I had two legs (and was thinner)
Do you want to do something useful????????
Why not join in here........
Not me and please don't try this at home!!
I have to thank my physios for their hard work and determination when dealing with an awkward sod like me!
Although, they do pull and twist me in the most unnatural of ways, I know they mean well.
Thanks to you all !
Me May 2006.
Promise to self - - - stop eating!

As I write this I am sitting listening to a bit of 80's music - Phil Collins and Philip Bailey - Easy Lover.
Take me back to those days, please!!!
Not necisarrily because I had two legs then but because the music was so much better!
Queen at Live Aid, Whitesnake, god forbid, even Duran Duran.
Anyone got a time machine?
Well, I have recently got myself a car after four years of not driving.
What a difference having your own independence makes!
I don't have to contantly ask for lifts and have the freedom to go where I want, when I want.
The car is through Motability and I must say what an excellent scheme they run. Without them a lot of disabled people would loose a lot of their independence.
