The Freedom Carrier was conceived by Steve Whitmore, whose wife Zelda is an MS sufferer who depends upon a mobility scooter to lead a normal lifestyle. Shopping trips were restricted by the limited storage space on the scooter which inevitably led to the unsafe practise of using the handlebars from which to hang shopping bags.
