When my wreck happened the gt was brand new on the market and hospital I was at (Shepherd Center) gave me one to roll around in. I loved the chair from day one. Before leaving the hospital my vendor(Reliantcare) gave me a loaner quickie gpv, that was probably the worst thing I have ever sat in. No amount of adjusting could make me comfortable.
I Have since received my gt and love it more than the first one I was in. The chair has even made a trip across the Atlantic to South Africa. So with only one other chair to compare mine against I would have to say that the gt is the best thing I have ever sat in.
At this particular point in time I am looking to get some glance wheels to make the chair all mine. I have stripped the chair down as much as I feel comfortable the only thing left to remove is the breaks, but they will probably stay for a while.
Using the design principals of the highly successful Quickie Ti Titanium, the Quickie GT™ enters the market as one of the lightest aluminum chairs in the world. A basic 16 X 16 chair with 24" rear spoke-wheels weighs a mere 20.5 lbs. This unparalleled low weight, combined with multiple patent-pending on-chair adjustment systems, provides an UltraLight chair with the flexibility to meet a wide variety of user needs and wishes. For more information on the features of this chair, click on "More Information." Shown with optional Fold Down Push Handles and Adjustable Back.
The Quickie GT has a 20.5 lbs. total chair weight (16 X 16 std. config - see order form). The frame transport-weight for the same configuration is 12.3 lbs. This is one of the lowest frame-weights in the world. Throw it on a scale next to any comparably sized aluminum model and see for yourself.
The Quickie GT's "L" shaped mono-frame design is perfect for transporting in and out of vehicles. The optional folding push-handles and a folding backrest combined with the "L" frame-shape makes the Quickie GT frame easier to move across the driver's seat than most non-folding and folding aluminum-frame chairs.
The Quickie GT features optional front Frog-Leg® and rear elastomer frame-suspension systems. These two systems can be purchased separately or in combination to provide the ultimate smooth ride. Throw in the mountain-wheel option and 6" wide front caster-wheels and the chair is ready for an off-road adventure.
Very light weight, but strong. As others have mentioned, the cantilever design, or open "L" shape of the frame makes it very easy to transport once the wheels are off and the back is folded down. There is enought adjustability in the design of this chair to make it fit you the way you need it to. I got mine with the standard Sun spoked wheels, but plan to add a set of Synergys as soon as the budget allows. The colors are great too; mine is Candy Apple Red and I love it!
Not really a bad point, but I guess this is part of the adjustability in the design of the chair. There is so much velcro used in the seat/clothes protectors/back that's it's like putting a jigsaw puzzle back together when you've taken everything off.
Great chair. For the first 16 years, I've used the old heavy, but foldable hospital-styled chairs. This is my first rigid-framed chair and I'll NEVER go back to the other style again.

Good Points
The Quickie GT is a lightweight aluminum chair that lends strength and durability to the user. It has an "L" shaped design, which allows ease in transfering it to the car. It is about 20 pounds with Spinergy wheels, and is so far, the best chair I have sat in.
Bad Points
If you spasm a lot, like I do, you need to make sure the footrest brackets are tight. I have spasmed so much that I have literally kicked the footplate off the foundation of the chair 4 times. I have since gotten it tight and I now no longer have this issue.
What would score it out of ten?
